A Lifestyle You Can Live With

Why fiber rules, and what you need to know!

Weight Watchers has figured it out

Brenda Watson wrote a book about it…

I stumbled upon it by accident by monitoring my weight loss chart, and couldn’t believe it when…

soluble-and-insoluble-fiber-picture

I lost 2 pounds in a day after having a mix of soluable and insoluable fiber the last half of the previous day.

First of all – why does fiber rule?

Fiber is found in foods that are naturally good for you, and that completely adhere to my findings in living a healthy lifestyle by eating simple (single ingredient in most cases), healthy foods (fruits, vegetables, whole grains).

Fiber is found in two forms – insoluble (doesn’t dissolve in water), and soluble (does dissolve in water).

Examples of insoluble foods are:

  • the skins of many fruits and vegetables
  • seeds & nuts,
  • whole grains (such as whole grain breads, cereal & pasta), and
  • corn.

Examples of soluble foods are:

  • apples,
  • bananas,
  • broccoli,
  • and the highest amount of soluble fiber is found in dried fruits.

Okay, what do I need to know?

Fiber keeps your digestive track healthy by stimulating muscle contraction; producing soft stools (great for hemorrhoid sufferers); by moisturizing the colon and by promoting the growth of healthy bacteria (that fight infection).

And…  Fiber speeds up the overall stool transit time (aka increases regularity).

Basically, fiber cleanses your system & promotes a healthy body.
